The 3 best UK-trained chances at Longchamp on Arc Sunday

Longchamp will take centre stage for all horse racing lovers on Sunday as we await who will be crowned Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe champion 2020.

It will be an absolute feast of racing with a total of six Group 1’s to look forward to. Action gets underway at 1.15pm UK-time and the final Group 1 is the Qatar Prix de la Foret at 4.55pm.

Although all this action is on in France, it looks like it could be a great day for UK-based runners. We have picked out the three with the best chance on paper below.

Clive Cox was quoted saying his runner will love the easing ground at Longchamp. A shock 150/1 winner of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, the form of that race hasn’t worked out so well. However, this isn’t a strong lineup and he’s a worthy favourite. Runner-up behind Campanelle in the Prix Morny at Deauville in August, he got the perfect prep for this and could take some beating. Cristophe Soumillon takes the ride.

The Queen is bidding to win this for the third time and it would be an incredible way to bow out if she managed to do so. The stats are against her but she has created a few records of her own so she is not to be dismissed. No six-year-old has ever won the race and no horse has ever won the race three times. She is however an incredible mare and has a better draw than she did last year coming from stall five. The bookies will take a pasting if she wins.

4.25 – Glass Slippers

Kevin Ryan’s filly was proving to be a disappointment initially this season, well beaten in the King’s Stand Stakes. However, slowly she started progressing, finishing second behind Battaash at Goodwood on her second start of the season. She then travelled over to the Curragh and won the Flying Five three weeks ago. A lot of class was shown on that occasion and she won this race last year so is a worthy favourite.
