‘Testing ground is a given’ – Three mud lovers to follow at Goodwood on Sunday

Mogul wins at Glorious Goodwood

It has been raining at Goodwood Racecourse all week and we are guaranteed pretty soft conditions. We take a look at three horses who should relish these conditions on Sunday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the action across Britain and Ireland for the day and best of luck if you have a bet!

1.50 Goodwood

Our Nap of the Day on Sunday is the Milton Harris trained Havaila and for very good reason. Unlike many in the field, the son of Le Havre is certain to enjoy conditions. His form on soft ground reads 221 and he can be excused his lacklustre performance when down the field at Kempton when last seen as that was his first run on the all-weather and the emphasis on speed caught him out. This boy has course form and will enjoy the mud so he ticks a lot of boxes.

2.25 Goodwood

Al Shabab Storm was placed on soft ground on debut when third at Leicester in September over 7f, beaten just half a length. He hit 1.06 in running on the exchanges when turned over by a good horse at Newmarket at the end of that month, but he might be an even better horse returning to softer conditions. Everything looks set for a huge run and he should be hard to beat.

3.00 Goodwood

Probe has a brilliant record on soft ground and the form figures on that particular ground read as 54111. The top weight came back from a 70 day break to finish down the field in the Ayr Gold Cup when last seen, but wasn’t beaten far all the same, about three lengths in total. This is a lot easier.
