Plumpton Racecourse is a notorious speed track that suits a front runner but with conditions soft to heavy there on Sussex National Day, it is going to play to the strengths of a proper staying type. You need a horse proven in the conditions to be successful and we’ve found three horses who fit that profile on Monday. Best of luck if you follow and remember always bet responsibly.
Le Coeur Net has won five times in his career and all five of those wins have come on heavy ground. The now 11-year-old certainly doesn’t have age on his side, but he is now 22lb below his last winning mark which came back in 2020. He bitterly disappointed when tailed off around here on his seasonal reappearance but the first-time visor could spark a revival.
Favori De Sivola is very versatile with regard to ground but has plenty of good form in the mud and he ticks a lot of boxes. This dour stayer won back to back last term and notched up a victory at Exeter in good style last month. He deserves to be at the head of the market off the back of that run and he is still running off of a workable mark.
Pilsdon Pen is a proper mud lover and has outstanding claims in the finale with conditions to suit. He wasn’t out of the first two in each of his five starts in 2022 over hurdles, resulting in three victories. He came back from a break to win off 102 at Exeter in November and a 4lb rise in the weights for that seems lenient enough from the handicapper.
