I watched the Paddy Power Cheltenham Festival Preview Night on YouTube on Monday night. As ever, the opinion of Ruby Walsh is always something that I respect. He has a good line into the Willie Mullins yard so it has to be telling that he fancies a horse that isn’t trained by Mullins for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle on the Tuesday.

Ruby Walsh fancies Jonbon

Speaking about Sir Gerhard and Dysart Dynamo, he said: “Whichever one of them goes to the Ballymore will win, so whichever one runs here only might win. The Ballymore is a much weaker race. I think this is a cracking race. Like everyone said, Mighty Potter at 10-1 could be a dual Grade 1 winner. He was unlucky in the Royal Bond and got caught in a pocket.

“Kilcruit, the application of the tongue tie has really helped him but the way the race will be run he needs a bit of help. At a push, I’d be picking Jonbon out of Nicky’s two. I loved him at Newbury. I was watching him at Newbury, standing there watching him going to the start and I think Dysart Dynamo if he is going to go hard here or look they will go hard in a Supreme, I think the race is made for him (Jonbon).”
