Stand up and take note! Jamie Spencer travels to Cork to ride in a maiden on Sunday 🐎

Jamie Spencer

The 2.05pm at Cork, which is the opening race on the card, is probably the most intriguing race of the day. It looks like it could turn out to be a high-quality maiden. Aidan O’Brien has two newcomers that will be worth monitoring and watching as long term prospects. Lost in particular, a son of Frankel with an incredible pedigree sparks interest.

Moving away from O’Brien, it has to be hugely interesting that Jamie Spencer will travel all the way to Cork Racecourse on Sunday to ride in this maiden. He has no other rides on the card. Let’s take a deeper look at this horse.

2.05 Cork

Spencer will get the leg up on Fozzy Stack’s My Eyes Adore You and I think this three-year-old daughter of Profitable must be fancied if he is coming over to ride her. She has some lofty entries including the Irish 2,000 Guineas which will be at the Curragh on the 22nd of May.

She certainly doesn’t smack of a Group 1 winner in waiting but she has only had two starts so who knows? Second to a very useful performer who went on to win the Madrid Handicap since on debut here over 6f, she disappointed in seventh when sent off favourite for a Curragh maiden in September.

The combination of dropping down to 5f and the fact she met trouble in running was the reason she disappointed but this step up to 7f should really suit and she deserves another opportunity to show us what she is made of. Spencer is riding out of his skin at present so that is also a positive.
