Splash in the mud – Monster 150-1 soft ground treble for Fakenham on Tuesday

Razzle Dazzle 'Em leads the field in the 2m novice hurdle at Fakenham, 19/2/16

Soft ground can be a blessing for a punter who is looking to land a bet. There is only a small enough percentage of horses that absolutely adore the mud. It can certainly pay to do your research when the rain falls. Adrian Wall has picked out three horses running at Fakenham on Tuesday that will relish the conditions. The treble at the time of posting paid 150-1 with William Hill.

Daryl Jacob rode a five-timer at Wincanton on the 9th of January so his confidence will be sky high. The in form jockey will take the ride on Oistrakh Le Noir in the famous Simon Munir and Isaac Souede silks. This French import was given a very tough introduction to fences on chasing debut at Kempton on Boxing Day. He ran as well as could have been expected when 6th behind the impressive Killer Clown. Now dropped in class, both of his wins over hurdles came on soft ground and he has his conditions.

Amy Murphy has saddled two winners from just seven runners sent to post thus far in 2021. She is a terrific trainer and makes the most of the ammunition that she has. Billy’s Angel is her runner here and will be ridden by the inexperienced 10-pound claimer Eddie Edge. The ex-Irish horse was a winner on heavy ground at Tipperary in August. He was smashed off the boards the only time he ran over fences. That was at Tramore where he was sent off 5-2 but fell when travelling well. Still thoroughly unexposed over fences and a soft ground lover, he looks sure to run a big race.

3.55 Fakenham

Tim Vaughan’s Madera Mist sprung a 33-1 shock when winning a good handicap over fences at Cheltenham last month. That was easily a career best run from the mare and she looks really well treated reverting back to hurdles. Not only does she drop from a Class 3 down to Class 5 company, she will run from just 3lb higher over the smaller obstacles. She relished the soft ground at Cheltenham and if that form is to be taken literally, she should win this.
