Soft ground specialists: three mud lovers form tasty 95-1 treble at Hereford 🌧️

Hereford Racecourse

Conditions look set to be soft at Hereford on Wednesday. With the winter ground finally out to play, some horses are likely to thrive in the softer underfoot conditions. It’s now time to start forgetting good ground horses. We’ve picked out three horses running there with proven records to consider. When combined, these three runners form a tasty-looking 95-1 treble. 1.15 Hereford

Magic Dancer (5-1, William Hill) has raced on soft ground five times and has only failed to place once. Kerry Lee’s gelding won convincingly on soft ground last October over an extended two miles. That was an impressive performance, scoring by 10 lengths off a 7lb lower mark. On the evidence of his victory over 2m4f at Cheltenham last time out, should have no trouble with the extra furlong. He’s no spring chicken anymore so 128 is a steep mark for him. Having won his last two however, confidence could hardly be any higher and in this form you wouldn’t want to bet against him.

2.15 Hereford

Flowing Cadenza (3-1, William Hill) goes up against her last time out conqueror Credo with a significant weight swing. Credo beat her by 19 lengths last time out but that was Flowing Cadenza’s first start for this yard and for 224 days. Venetia Williams’ horses tend to improve significantly from their seasonal debuts which bodes well here. Her track record on soft ground is excellent with a win and three places in just five starts.

3.15 Hereford

Mr Grey Sky (3-1, William Hill) has won three and placed in a two of his six starts on soft ground. The only unplaced effort came in a significantly higher grade than this at Sandown. Lightly raced for an eight-year-old, there’s plenty more to come from this horse and he should improve for fences. Makes his chasing debut off a reasonable mark of 124 which shouldn’t cause any problems.
