Six-time C&D winner is 12-1 to win the race he has won twice already at York 👀

There’s one runner at York on Thursday that boasts a terrific record over course and distance, winning no fewer than six times. The horse in question will be attempting to win the same race for the third time, which would be an impressive achievement indeed. Currently available at 12-1, that’s a good price for a horse with such an impressive record here at York. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 York

Copper Knight has been around the block a fair few times and he certainly knows his way around York. Tim Easterby’s gelding has run here no fewer than 21 times, winning six races which have all come over the minimum trip. His last win came at Chester last June and it came off a mark of 97. On that evidence, he has to be of interest now that his mark has fallen to 88.

Now a nine-year-old, he’s no spring chicken but he’s a dual-winner of this race and this fact makes him very hard to rule out. The official going description is currently good and six of Copper Knight’s career wins have come on good ground. Copper Knight won this race in back-to-back renewals in 2019 and 2021 and that certainly bodes well for his chances, despite a poor showing last year.

It has been a while since his last course and distance win, which came back in August 2021 but he’s particularly well-treated off this current mark and may well have one or two more tricks up his sleeve. Tim Easterby has done a terrific job of keeping this horse competitive over a long period of time and although Copper Knight is getting on in age, another course and distance victory could be on the cards.
