Sir Mark Prescott is one of the shrewdest operators around and his career strike-rate in Ireland is an impressive 34 per cent. That is undoubtedly boosted by his 100 per cent strike-rate at Galway, courtesy of his successful sole previous runner at the track.
It’s a 971-mile round trip from his Newmarket base and he’s set send one there on Tuesday. Connections won’t want to come home empty-handed and it would appear that the horse in question is popular in the market. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Rouge Sellier made her first start of the season at Kempton in July and could hardly have been more impressive. A winning distance of 15 lengths is rarely seen in Flat racing so it’s no surprise that she heads the market here.
Prescott’s filly was always prominent and never had to come out of second gear, pulling further and further clear whilst being eased at the finish. It’s also worth noting that the well beaten fourth went on to win her next start, but she could get nowhere near Rouge Sellier on the day.
With that in mind, her fourth in Listed company at Hamilton next time was probably a little disappointing. She was too keen in the early stages and shaped as if she would improve for the experience. We can probably expect a more professional performance this time around however and she should be making the frame at the very least.
Sir Mark Prescott has a 100 per cent record at five tracks in Ireland, suggesting he doesn’t send runners over for a day out. That’s certainly worth bearing in mind when looking at this race.
