‘She was so unlucky last time’ – This 12/1 shot is the Irish 1000 Guineas filly to follow

The Irish Guineas Festival takes place at the Curragh this weekend and there’s some excellent racing to look forward to across the three-day meeting. Sunday’s big race of the day is the Irish 1000 Guineas and it’s shaping up to be a cracking race.

Exactly (12/1, betfred) had a very busy two-year-old campaign, where she ran seven times and won twice. She won a Leopardstown maiden over 7f on her second start and the form looks rock-solid. The next three horses home have won since, including the fourth who won the Rockfel Stakes.

Progressing through the grades after that, the daughter of Frankel was only beaten by half-a-length when third in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac. O’Brien’s filly was attempting to make all and she lost little in defeat that day. Bolting up in a Group 3 against the boys next time, clearly she’s very talented.

She finished second on seasonal debut at the Curragh and was always going to improve significantly for the run. The French 1000 Guineas (Poule d’Essai des Pouliches) was a chaotic race and Exactly was arguably the biggest loser.

Ryan Moore had to pull her back after she got mullered on her way through to the front and she did will to finish third by just over a length under the circumstances. Back on her own turf, Exactly should be bang in the mix once again if lining up and she just needs some better luck.
