This is a very competitive handicap which should be hotly contested. With that in mind, it would be no surprise to see a bigger-priced winner such as Fair Star (20-1, bet365). Brian Ellison’s gelding has been in good recent form and shouldn’t be discarded. He was narrowly denied at Newcastle last time out when finishing second over 1m4f. Returning to a trip just over 1m6f should suit as his last win came at Wolverhampton over a similar distance.
Lady Hamana (25-1, Paddy Power) could surprise a few in this high-class juvenile Group 2. The front two in the market deserve their places on what they’ve achieved so far but this filly has plenty of potential. She won impressively on her second start, appreciating the drop down to 5f at Wolverhampton. It was a comfortable victory which came by three-and-three-quarter lengths and the form has been boosted with the fifth winning well at Brighton when last seen. Should be more to come on her third start and the sky’s the limit.
Lion Tower (20-1, Paddy Power) is likely to be suited by the step down in trip here. Despite performing admirably over a mile, his best recent form is over 7f so the extended 6f here should be right up his street. The handicapper has dropped him 4lb for a below-par effort at York over a mile last time which should be a big help. Looks overpriced here and should run a huge race.
