Leicester has been a happy hunting ground for Olly Murphy and his course strike-rate so far this season is a very healthy 41 per cent. He has seven winners and counting, from just 17 runners, making him the trainer to follow at the track on Tuesday. Only two of his runners have finished outside of the first four so we’ve combined four of his best chances into a Lucky 15. Alexandra Larose joined Olly Murphy after finishing fourth in two bumpers for Georgina Nicholls. She hasn’t shown a great deal in three starts over hurdles thus far but the switch to low grade handicaps should be a big help. There’s plenty of stamina in her pedigree so the step up in trip will also suit.
Barlovento bumped into a useful prospect when runner-up behind Ma Shantou at Warwick in November, whilst shouldering a 7lb penalty, and was a game winner at Carlisle on his first start over hurdles before that. This probably isn’t the deepest of novice hurdles so a return to winning ways could well be on the agenda.
Trust House clearly appreciated the switch to handicaps on his penultimate start, as he managed to shed his maiden tag over course and distance. Murphy’s five-year-old is 2lb better off with Snapius, who got the better of him last time out, and that could make the difference.
Westerninthepark also happens to be our Nap of the day and he appears to have every chance. The seven-year-old won well at Stratford back in October and has contested two better races since. Having been dropped in grade here, he should be capable of coming out on top.
