1.45 Haydock

MAYDANNY is an interesting contender in this Group 3. He has risen through the handicapping ranks and looked up to this level when overcoming trouble to win off 100 at Goodwood in July. He produced another solid effort at York last time out and wouldn’t need much more to come out on top here.

2.20 Haydock

Andrew Balding’s VALLEY FORGE landed a valuable handicap last time out and he can add another here.  He was making his handicap debut in the Melrose at York two weeks ago but he travelled strongly throughout and found enough to hold on without being asked for maximum effort. A 7lb higher mark is unlikely to be the limit of his ability.

2.40 Kempton

HUKUM should be a tough nut to crack here. After a creditable three-length third in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes he got back to winning ways against Outbox at York in July and then proved far too good for seven rivals in another Group 3 at Newbury three weeks ago. He won a novice here as a youngster so the surface holds no fears.

2.55 Haydock

GLOBAL STORM could only finish midfield in the Ebor but he deserves another chance. He wasn’t dangerous that day but some trouble two furlongs out didn’t help and he would have gone closer with a clear run.

Charlie Appleby’s gelding had previously chased home the progressive Live Your Dream at Newmarket and a repeat performance would give him every chance in this company.

3.10 Ascot

CHALK STREAM was rated 71 when getting off the mark at Leicester in May but he has made steady progress since then and added a third success at Ripon last time out, easily seeing off Barn Owl despite being eased down close home. The runner-up boosted that form with an emphatic success at Beverley last Saturday.

3.30 Haydock

STARMAN came up short on soft ground at Deauville last time out but he has proved unbeatable on a faster surface and produced a career best when landing the July Cup at Newmarket previously.

He didn’t get a clear run that day but he showed a good burst of acceleration to put daylight between himself and Dragon Symbol. None of these have the ability to match him on that evidence.
