Moore and O’Brien at the double once again?

Puppet Master and Giselle landed the Derby and Oaks trials for Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien last season and the pair will be going for the double once again.

Cameo (10/3, bet365) took a couple of runs to get the hang of things last term but she won a 7f maiden at the Curragh in good style, before finishing fourth in a Group 3. She looked in need of the run on seasonal debut and should improve plenty for the step up in trip.

Isaac Newton (7/2, bet365) won a decent maiden at Glorious Goodwood last summer and was far from disgraced when finishing fourth in a Group 1 over 1m2f at Saint Cloud in October. Nowhere near sharp enough at Newmarket last month, we should see a completely different colt over this sort of trip.

Victoria Cup outsider

Royal Zabeel (33/1, Boylesports) brings a high level of form to the table and he won a Class 2 event off a 2lb lower mark at Newmarket in August. Mick Appleby’s five-year-old has also scored at Listed level on the all-weather since and should be competitive off this mark.

ITV horses for courses

Morcar has won twice and finished third twice in four previous starts on Lingfield’s turf track. His most recent success came in this very race last year and the six-year-old is back down to the same mark.

Gibbs Island made an excellent start to his hurdling career as a juvenile, winning his first couple of starts, and that includes a six-length success in the Victor Ludorum over course and distance. Seventh in the County Hurdle last time out, this race looks significantly easier.
