SOUTH TERRACE looks the solid option in this Pertemps Qualifier. He picked up minor honours in his first four starts for Richard Newland and finally made the breakthrough at Uttoxeter in June, where he was going away from his rivals at the finish.
A 6lb rise in the weights looks well within his capabilities.
BOOSALA has clearly had his problems, with just two runs since July 2019. However, he is easily forgiven a lacklustre display in Group 3 company at Ascot last month, and the form of his third at Wolverhampton last Boxing Day suggests he is moving into handicaps with a workable mark.
Whatever Paul Nicholls runs in this Grade 2 would deserve serious respect but BRAVEMANSGAME is the pick of his three entrants. The six-year-old wasn’t far off the very best novice hurdlers last season and made a good start to his chase career at Newton Abbot recently, beating Saturday’s Charlie Hall winner Fusil Raffles with plenty in hand.
ROSE OF ARCADIA never lived up to expectations last season but she might be worth another chance after a summer break.
Her sole win came over this course and distance in February and she wasn’t disgraced when last seen at Newbury in March either, travelling well but lacking a change of gear at the end.
NUITS ST GEORGES was third at 80-1 in this last year but it would be much less of a surprise to see him go close again. He has gone off the boil since winning at Salisbury in June but he has been given a break and it was a similar story 12 months ago, when he led inside the final furlong but couldn’t quite hold on.
GOSHEN has become difficult to predict but he could be far too good for these on a going day. He was easily beaten in Grade 1s at the end of last season but produced a fantastic performance here in February, when he left useful yardstick Song For Someone standing in the home straight.
