Saturday ITV Outsiders: Adrian thinks a JP McManus horse could get well punted 🐎

Adrian Wall is back with his weekly feast of ITV Racing Outsiders and he has picked out three horses who should outrun their large odds on Saturday. Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips for the weekend, and remember, always bet responsibly.

2.25 Ascot

Sporting John (16-1) has the burden of top weight but looks extremely well treated on the pick of both his hurdles and chase form. A winner of the Grade 1 Scilly Isles at Sandown in 2021, he won a Warwick handicap hurdle off a mark of 151 nearly 12 months ago. He pulled up over fences at Wetherby in December but has since had wind surgery and can run off just 147 now over larger obstacles.

2.40 Haydock

Grumpy Charley (18-1) finished second here over hurdles in the past and has won multiple times over both hurdles and fences. He was pulled up in the Classic Chase at Warwick when last seen but that race possibly came too soon for him off the back of a win at Newbury over hurdles. He is a dour stayer and although he might want more rain to come as all of his wins have been on heavy or soft, he is a player in this.

3.00 Ascot

Samarrive (20-1) is another top weight that I am interested in, in the following handicap hurdle at Ascot. Paul Nicholls’ gelding jumped terribly when disappointing at odds on at Kempton back in November, but he bolted up at Sandown off 137 last year over hurdles. Now 6lb higher in the weights, he is effectively 1lb lower as Freddie Gingell takes a valuable 7lb off in the plate and he can go well for a powerful stable.
