2.30 Ascot

Miss Lamai (28/1, bet365) was a very impressive winner on debut at Thirsk in April and the runner-up has since won a Listed race in Italy. She didn’t look like the most straightforward of rides when hanging to the left in a York Listed race next time. Karl Burke’s filly would have learnt plenty from the experience and there should be more to come.

5.05 Ascot

Ropey Guest (33/1, bet365) ran a cracker when second in the Balmoral Handicap over course and distance last term. With that in mind, he should be competitive once again off just a 1lb higher mark. His current rating is 5lb higher than his last winning one but he should be very competitive nonetheless. There are 30 runners in this race and extra places are likely to be on offer so it would be no surprise if George Margarson’s gelding makes the frame.

5.40 Ascot

Mammas Girl (40/1, William Hill) scored at Group 3 level as recently as April 2023, when an easy winner of the Nell Gwyn. Thinks haven’t exactly gone to plan since at that level and the drop into handicap company should suit. Her mark has slipped to 97 as a result of a below-par effort in a Group 2 at the Curragh when last seen and this is a good opportunity to get back on track.
