Royal Ascot Day 1 ante-post tips: 20-1 US raider looks dangerous on Tuesday 👑

Royal Ascot kicks off on Tuesday and Day 1 is arguably the best day of the week. Trainers will be finalising their plans for the royal meeting and the excitement is beginning to build. We’ve selected three horses for the ante-post markets who could run huge races. These include a 20-1 US raider that looks dangerous. Coventry Stakes

Johannes Brahms (14-1, William Hill) was a winner on debut at Naas, showing a very nice attitude. It’s likely that he’ll take a big step forward from that debut effort and could run a huge race if lining up here. The Coolmore partners have previously had success with Siyouni progeny, namely the excellent St Mark’s Basilica, and this colt could be another smart sort.

King’s Stand Stakes

Twilight Gleaming (20-1, bet365) finished second in the Queen Mary here as a two-year-old back in 2021. I’d be willing to wager that she’s a bigger and stronger filly now. She made a good start to the season at Keeneland last time out, winning a Listed race against two rivals. That should have brought her on plenty for this. Wesley Ward is always dangerous at Royal Ascot and this filly could be one to watch out for.

St James’s Palace Stakes

Isaac Shelby (8-1, bet365) has made an excellent start to his three-year-old campaign. He won the Greenham in good style on seasonal debut and went close in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains at Longchamp last time. If being delivered late this time, he could give the market leaders plenty to think about. His record suggests it would be dangerous to underestimate this colt.
