Road to Cheltenham: 20-1 ante-post tip for the Festival’s Triumph Hurdle 💪

The Cheltenham Festival in March is rapidly approaching and is now only a couple of months away. There’s plenty of time left for some interesting ante-post plays and the markets are beginning to heat up. Now is a good time of year to take a look at the Triumph Hurdle on Day 4, as some interesting juveniles have hit the track recently. One recent runner has really taken our eye and could be worth a closer look at 20-1. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Triumph Hurdle

Highwind (20-1, William Hill) barely jumped a twig on his hurdling debut at Punchestown on Monday. That makes the fact that he managed to win by almost three lengths vastly more impressive. Obviously he would struggle in a Triumph Hurdle if his jumping doesn’t improve significantly but this horse clearly has a massive engine.

Another run could perhaps be on the cards for this gelding before the big race in March and there’s a Grade 1 at Leopardstown in February which would provide valuable experience. There’s no one better than Willie Mullins at getting horses to improve their jumping and this lad should be much slicker when we next see him.

A winner on the Flat in France for Christopher Head, he made the frame in each of his five starts in that sphere. His win this week was his first start for 283 days and he should improve plenty for the run. If he manages to rectify his issues in the jumping department, the sky really is the limit for this four-year-old.
