Red-hot trainer Fergal O’Brien sends one runner to Cartmel on Wednesday 🚛

It has been a good couple of weeks for Fergal O’Brien and he’s had eight winners in the last fortnight. The journey from his Gloucestershire base to Cartmel in Cumbria is a significant round trip of 426 miles. Therefore it’s interesting that he sends just one runner up to the track on Wednesday. The horse in question is due a win and this could be the day he gets it. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

5.50 Cartmel

Elham Valley has been very consistent in his last two starts, finishing second off his current mark of 118. He was perhaps unlucky to bump into an unexposed sort at Southwell earlier this month and kept on nicely to claim the runner-up spot at Kempton on his penultimate start. This consistency deserves a reward and he could get that by returning to the winners’ enclosure here.

His last win came at Newton Abbot in August, scoring narrowly off a mark of 115. Now just 3lb higher, he has it in him to win off this mark. It’s simply the matter of finding the right race for him and this could be it. Handicap debutant Yukon looks like the biggest danger but Elham Valley will be looking to make the most of his experience.

Conditional jockey Jack Hogan takes the ride and he’s been amongst the winners for O’Brien recently, landing a double at Kelso on Sunday. Undoubtedly his 3lb claim will come in handy here and this looks like an excellent opportunity for the O’Brien team to add another winner to their tally.
