Racing League’s defending champions have four big chances on Thursday

The Racing League returns to our screens on Thursday and Yarmouth hosts the first round of races. Wales & The West won the entire thing last year and they have several good chances on Thursday. They will be seeking to get their title defence off to a good start so we’ve picked out four of the team’s best chances of winning. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

6.40 Yarmouth

A Major Payne is yet to win after 10 starts but that could be set to change here. Michael Bell’s four-year-old has finished second in each of his last three starts and should be getting his head in front sooner rather than later. Returning off the same mark here, another good run is expected.

7.10 Yarmouth

Dosman remains lightly raced four a four-year-old, especially in handicaps, and he was an excellent second at Newcastle most recently. The son of Kingman has since joined Jamie Osborne and he’s been in good form for the last couple of weeks. He wasn’t disgraced when third behind Ombudsman last season and should be going close here.

8.10 Yarmouth

Tryfan stays 1m6f well and returned to winning ways on his second start for Harry Charlton at Salisbury in May. That victory resulted in a 5lb rise and he went on to finish second over an extended two miles at Newcastle. The drop back in trip should help and he’s well set to go close once again.

8.40 Yarmouth

Wave Rider is bred to be a middle-distance horse so it’s no surprise that he got off the mark on just his second attempt over 1m2f at Sandown last month. Pulling three lengths clear of his rivals, that was an impressive display and further progress is anticipated upon his return to handicaps.
