Selecting horses based on their form at whatever track they’re racing at certainly isn’t the worst way of picking winners. Although there are no guarantees in this game, horses can show a particular liking to certain tracks. With this in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out four horses running at Pontefract on Monday with proven records at the course. When combined, they form a monster 2,183-1 accumulator. Braveheart Boy (6-1, William Hill) is defending a 100 per cent record here at Pontefract. Tim Easterby’s colt scored over course and distance on his only start at the track. The horse he beat that day went on to be narrowly denied when second in a valuable sales race at York and finish third in the Two-year-old Trophy at Redcar on Saturday. This form reads well, especially in the context of this winnable race as his sights have been lowered here.
Do I Dream (7-1, William Hill) is also defending a 100 per cent record here. She won over course and distance back in April off a 12lb lower mark. Only beaten by half-a-length at Thirsk two starts ago off 1lb lower, another decent effort isn’t out of the question now back at the scene of her only career-victory.
Flint Hill (5-1, William Hill) is no stranger round these parts with eight career starts to his name. Of these eight starts, two have resulted in victory and three were second place finishes. Ruth Jefferson’s gelding’s last win came here over 2m1f off this very mark of 71. He’s consistently competitive here off similar marks and was a neck-second over course and distance off 1lb lower back in June.
Gainsbourg (11-2, William Hill) absolutely loves it here, winning two of his three starts and finish third in the other. This includes a very easy course and distance victory last time out. The 6lb rise for that effort seems very fair and there’s every reason to expect another big effort despite the hike in the weights.
