Superstar trainer Paul Nicholls will send two runners on a 600-mile round trip to Sedgefield Racecourse on Tuesday. That is a very lengthy journey from his Ditcheat Stables and he isn’t going all the way there to lose.
In his career, Paul has saddled nine runners at the track, resulting in three victories. Bryony Frost will also travel up to take the ride on both of his well fancied runners.
The champion trainer sent one runner on a 645-mile round journey to Hexham Racecourse on Saturday. Grange Road, ridden by Daryl Jacob and sent off a 2-1 chance, bolted up by 7 lengths to make the journey worthwhile.
That win at Hexham bolstered Paul’s incredible record at that venue to four wins from four runners. Generally, when he sends a horse this far, he is only interested in winning. Let’s take a look at his two running at Sedgefield.
Paul Nicholls at Sedgefield is a sight that we do not see very often so the fact he sends Zoran there is a tip in itself. Rated 81 on the Flat, he was sent off 4-5 favourite for his hurdling debut for Paul but he got a touch outpaced and didn’t jump too fluently. He should come on bundles for that and could be a different beast this time around.
The second of two runners Paul Nicholls is sending up north on Tuesday, Bryony could get another winner on the board with Christopher Wood. This smart hurdler goes chasing for the first time and once placed in Grade 1 company over the smaller obstacles, he may have too much class for his rivals providing he takes well to the bigger obstacles.
