‘Only a win would justify this’ – Crisford’s send one on 742-mile trip to Ayr 🚛

2.48 Ayr

Chance (2-1, William Hill) would appear to have a particularly strong chance in this race. The six-year-old won as recently as three starts ago and finds himself on just a 2lb higher mark. His run at Sandown at the start of the month should have sharpened him up as it was his first start for 154 days.

Ground conditions are likely to be slower at Ayr as the current going description is good with rain expected on Monday. This is unlikely to negatively impact him as he’s a previous winner on heavy ground and isn’t dependent on the going.

Harry Burns is a useful apprentice who takes a very helpful 5lb off here. This is the training partnership’s first runner of the season at the Scottish track which has to be another significant factor. Their only other foray into Scotland this season resulted in victory at Hamilton. Chance is a consistent sort who runs his race more often than not and all the signs point towards a big run.
