One Horse: Rachael Blackmore & De Bromhead make 832-mile round trip to Perth 🛳️

It’s rare that Henry de Bromhead sends a runner over to Scotland. His Perth runner on Thursday will be just the first of his in Scotland in the last five years (could be longer) and it is no surprise given where the yard is located.

An 832-mile round trip is a long way to bring just a single runner so as with all Irish raiders to the Scottish track, this horse needs plenty of respect with conditions looking ideal for his sole representative.

Based in County Waterford way down south in Ireland, the yard will have to drive all the way to Northern Ireland, get a ferry to Scotland and then drive to Perth. That’s a lot of money to lay out on expenses; fuel, staff etc.

The horse in question is Brave Way and will be partnered by Rachael Blackmore, her sole ride of the day which could well be a tip in itself. Sporting the now famous Honeysuckle colours, this horse was desperately unlucky not to win at Kilbeggan in April, with a terrible jump at the last costing her the race.

Brave Way was sent off a 4/6 shot on the day and a win was fully expected by the look of things. That was her first start in six months so one would assume that she will only come on bundles for the run and with only three rivals to beat, she has to be respected.

Interestingly, Gordon Elliott runs his sole runner on the card in the contest too, so Champagne Sparkles is not to be discounted. Three of the four runners are Irish trained so it is a fascinating contest.
