Thirsk‘s second fixture of the season is set to take place on Tuesday and Oisin Orr is the jockey to watch. The Irishman had two rides at their last meeting and both of them came out on top. This means he’ll be defending a 100 per cent record with his one ride on Tuesday.
With that in mind, we’re going to take a close look at the horse’s profile so why not check a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Drumcondra represents the Declan Carroll yard and the son of Showcasing has had two runs so far. A relatively cheap purchase at €28,000, his dam is a close relative of middle-distance Group 1 winner Fascinating Rock, though she never made it to the racecourse herself.
It was a pretty underwhelming display on debut over 7f at Redcar in October. No one was expecting a good run though, as he went off 1t 125/1. Always behind that day, he wasn’t given too hard a time but was well beaten back in ninth, only beating two horses home.
He went off the same price when upped to a mile at Haydock a couple of weeks later, but produced a somewhat improved performance. More positive tactics were employed and he made most of the running but got tired late on, with the heavy ground playing a factor there.
Handicaps will probably be more suitable sooner rather than later but if building on that most recent effort, he’s not without a chance. Declan Carroll has two winners from his nine runners in the last fortnight and that surely bodes well for Drumcondra.
