Oisin Murphy has been the jockey to follow in recent weeks and the winners continue to flow for the Irishman. Lingfield‘s turf track has been a happy hunting ground for him in 2024, as he has three winners from just five rides.
A 60 per cent strike certainly isn’t to be sniffed at and he heads to the Surrey track on Monday. He’s set to have three rides on the card but only two of them will be on turf. With this in mind, we’ve assessed their chances and they could be worth looking out for. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Phoenix Moon showed very little in her first first starts but it was a much improved effort when fourth on handicap debut at Kempton last time out. Denis Coakley’s filly kept on despite lacking the pace to threaten the leaders. The handicapper has since dropped her 2lb and that certainly helps her chances here. She’s entitled to build on that effort and it’s unlikely that we’ve seen the best of her just yet.
Upscale will be attempting to get off the mark at the fifth time of asking and it surely won’t be long until she heads into handicap company. One would imagine she’ll be amongst the market leaders for this race and Andrew Balding’s three-year-old has every chance on her best form. You’ll need to forgive a pretty disappointing recent effort at Chester but her second at Haydock before that was much more like it. A typically well bred Juddmonte filly, she should be winning races sooner rather than later.
