Now that’s a punt! Horse backed from 33-1 into 9-1 at Newcastle on Saturday 😱

Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 2.55pm at Newcastle Racecourse today.

2.55 Newcastle

Generally, it wouldn’t take a whole lot of money to shift a horse from 33-1 into 9-1, but on Northumberland Plate day at Newcastle Racecourse, it might take a bit more. That is a positive sign for backers of Tiger Jet, who hails from the Brian Ellison stable and runs from down near the bottom of the handicap.

This son of Jet Away had four runs over hurdles last year, and has only had four runs on the flat. He finished second here at this track over 1m2f in February, but certainly looked in need of a step up in trip on that occasion as he was doing his best work at the finish. Then, he went to Southwell and again finished second.

Since then, he ran twice on turf and ran quite poorly over around 1m4f. Not only did he not enjoy the grass, it is clear that this step up to 2m should be right up his street and now returning to the all weather off a basement mark, he could be a big danger to all. Best of luck if you have a play.
