Newmarket trainer sends one horse on a 714-mile round trip to Musselburgh

Caspian Prince wins the Scottish Sprint Cup

It has to be hugely interesting that a well known shrewd trainer is sending just one horse from Newmarket all the way up to Musselburgh in Scotland. If the journey had several horses then it may not be as significant but the fact one horse is sent all the way up there must mean that they are trying very hard! Make sure you take a look at our free horse racing tips which are uploaded to the website before 7pm every evening. Moving on, let us take a look at this horse in more detail below.

3.10 Musselburgh

Sir Mark Prescott, who is based in Newmarket, sends just one runner all the way from his yard up to Musselburgh on Friday. Stable jockey Luke Morris will also make the journey north and will ride Bodyline in the Racing TV Portobello Cup Handicap. This is a Class 3 contest ran over the extended 1m5f and as we well know, there aren’t too many out there who can train a stayer on the Flat better than Prescott.

Bodyline is a well-bred Australia gelding and is certainly bred to stay. This will be his first run of the season but he went close on his seasonal debut last year so fitness should not be too much of a concern. He was last seen winning a Yarmouth handicap over 1m6f comfortably on good to firm ground last September so the conditions should be ideal for him here. Bodyline may well need the run but it would be a surprise if connections travelled all this way to not win, they simply have to be trying hard.
