Newmarket is back and here’s why you should follow this Frankie Dettori double 🗣

It has been a long winter for Flat racing enthusiasts who have had to wait patiently for the return of the turf season. The first Newmarket fixtures of the season are upon us in the shape of the three-day Craven meeting. The return of racing to HQ almost inevitably means the return of Frankie Dettori. The veteran jockey has had 2907 rides resulting in 487 winners across both the Rowley Mile and the July Course. Dettori is set to take two rides on the Rowley Mile on Tuesday for regular boss John Gosden and they’ll surely be hard to ignore. Check out our Tuesday ITV Racing tips on the website.

Megallan showed some good form last season without absolutely setting the world alight but could well be the type to improve significantly as a four-year-old. He ran Hurricane Lane close in the Dante at York last May which is the pick of his form despite winning a Group 3 at Salisbury in August. The market currently suggests that this is a two horse race and that’s probably correct. He’ll need to take a big step forward here but it’s reasonable to trust that he can do so.

Crenelle would have learned plenty on debut at Southwell earlier this month. She was very green and her jockey stated that she was denied a clear run when finishing a close second. With that experience under her belt and a bit more luck in running, she looks to have a great chance of breaking her maiden tag. This daughter of Kingman is bred for the turf so the switch to grass will undoubtedly be a help. She’s likely to learn more again here but should be streetwise enough to get the win.
