Naas on Sunday: three potential Cheltenham Festival winners to keep an eye on

As the Cheltenham Festival gets closer and closer, we are getting down to the nitty gritty as some horses have their final run before the showdown at Prestbury Park in a couple of week’s time. We have a nice card to look forward to at Naas on Sunday, and there are three horses running on the card who are serious festival candidates. Let’s take a look at them below.

1.25 Naas

Unbeaten in five starts over jumps, Gordon Elliott’s Wodhooh has a great opportunity to make is six in the opening Grade 3 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle over two miles. Currently around an 8/1 chance for the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham next month, this filly won a Listed contest at Newbury in December before beating Max Of Stars again in a Listed hurdle at Doncaster. We haven’t seen the bottom of her yet and she is exciting.

2.25 Naas

Henry de Bromhead’s Shantreusse is likely to take her chance in the Plate Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival if she does go across the water, a race that she is 25/1 for at present. She runs in the Listed Nas Na Riogh Novice Handicap Chase on Sunday and isn’t without a chance. Well backed when second at Navan in December, she found one too good on the day. She was out of her depth in the Albert Bartlett last season but might be a force in handicaps.

3.55 Naas

Cleatus Poolaw is currently one of the favourites for the Pertemps at Cheltenham next month at around 10/1, and Gordon Elliott’s runner who is owned by Gigginstown is another to watch closely here. He might now follow up his Naas novice hurdle success but he’s one to keep a very close eye on.
