Monday’s 18/1 accumulator

Iberico Lord got us underway with victory in the novices’ chase at Kempton. Having won the Greatwood and the Betfair Hurdle last term, we knew that Nicky Henderson’s gelding possesses loads of ability. His jumping could do with some work but he managed to beat Leave Of Absence, the only other finisher, by a length-and-a-half at odds of 13/8.

El Vigaro was initially advised at 15/8, having shed his maiden tag at Uttoxeter on his previous start. He duly obliged off a 5lb higher mark here and continued Matt Sheppard’s excellent run of form.

Paul Nicholls’ Kabral Du Mathan finished things off when winning on handicap debut at Kempton. We expected a mark of 123 would underestimate this four-year-old and so it proved, as he pulled nicely clear to score by just shy of five lengths.

Wednesday’s Accumulator

Brave Jen finally won over hurdles at the 11th time of asking in a Sedgefield maiden hurdle earlier this month. Beaten a head in a Listed race for previous connections, a mark of 101 shouldn’t be beyond her now returning to handicaps.

Pats Dream remains lightly raced over fences and scored narrowly on his firs start for this yard at Ayr recently. A 7lb rise looks arguably a little harsh but Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero are shrewd operators and further progress can’t be ruled out.

Great Fleet represents the all-conquering Dan Skelton yard and he cost £60,000 after finishing second in an Irish point at Bartlemy in May. The yard’s strike-rate in bumpers is 32 per cent so far this season and he shouldn’t be far away on rules debut here.
