Monster Gamble at Navan: Charles Byrnes horse backed from 66-1 into 5-1 🚀

12.50 Navan

When money comes for a Charles Byrnes horse, you must stand up and take note. Backed from a high of 66-1 last night, all the way into 5-1 this morning, Summer Melody is fancied by someone for this maiden hurdle over 2m4f.

This son of Arctic Cosmos stepped up on his first two bumper efforts to put in an impressive display on his third start in that sphere. He won a bumper here at Navan 14 days ago, hitting a high of 70 in running but he found plenty for pressure over two miles.

There were a couple of potentially decent types in behind him that day. Found A Fifty is highly regarded and breezed up seemingly to win the race, but the Byrnes runner was having none of it and he hit the line full of running.

Stepping up four furlongs in trip here is bound to suit and soft ground will not be a problem. This is a fairly sizeable gamble and we expect the horse to run a very nice race here.
