Monster gamble alert – Horse backed from 14-1 into 9-2 at Kempton

Kempton Racecourse

Our resident horse racing expert Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 7.30pm at Kempton tonight. Don’t miss out on our posts on Twitter @myracingtips where you can message us directly and have your say. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in terrific form this month. Let’s take a closer look at this big gamble in more detail below.

7.30pm Kempton

It is not too often that a Class 4 Kempton handicap gets the juices flowing but tonight is an exception. There are several factors to take into account when looking for a winner around this venue.

First off is the draw – generally the lower the draw, the better. That is more pronounced for races between five furlongs and seven furlongs. Kempton is a sharp right-handed track so the reasons are self explanatory.

The next thing to take into account is the surface. Some horses enjoy an artificial track, others don’t. Horses with course form can often be a good angle into a race.

Taking the quality of jockey into account is the next port of call. Kempton is a difficult track to navigate, especially if you have a wider than ideal draw. Siding with the very classy riders around here can pay dividends.

Gamble alert

Backed from a high of 14-1 last night all the way into 9-2 at the time of posting, ZHUI FENG is hugely interesting. The eight-year-old is having his first run for trainer Tom Ward tonight since leaving Amanda Perrett.

The change of scenery can always be a great thing for a horse and he has that all important inside draw on the rail in gate one. Jockey Tom Marquand should be able to get into a nice early position and could dictate the fractions.

A maiden winner around here on his second career start, this runner was third here off a mark of 88 last September over the mile. The trip stretched him a bit so the drop back to seven furlongs could be ideal and he is now running off 5lb lower.
