Monster 1,616/1 JP McManus treble for racing on Thursday

Buveur D'Air wins the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle

It was certainly a day to remember for JP McManus on Saturday the 7th of November. The famous Irish owner had six winners spread across three horse racing meetings. The six-fold returned over 300,000-1 which is quite simply staggering. Well known for enjoying a punt himself, he must have had a good day. We have put together a monster McManus treble for racing on Thursday below.

1.20 Thurles

The race of the day is without doubt the Chase. This is a Grade 1 race disguised as a Listed contest. Presenting Percy, Kemboy and Monalee will run but the interesting contender is DARASSO. Last seen finishing down the field in the Champion Hurdle, this boy is made for fences. He is three from three over the larger obstacles and the now seven-year-old will come into his own over fences this season. This boy is potentially top class and we haven’t seen the best of him yet.

1.30 Market Rasen

JP runs three in the Pertemps Qualifier so the market could tell the story. Joseph O’Brien sends Tower Bridge on a 1,300-mile round trip from Ireland. The Philip Hobbs trained No Comment has to improve his jumping but is talented. We think the one to be on could be DREAM BERRY for the in form Jonjo O’Neill yard. This horse ran very well here at Market Rasen on seasonal reappearance in 3rd and won here twice prior. He should have the measure of his rivals.

2.33 Market Rasen

It is easy to take the form of McManus runners with a pinch of salt because he is known to set them up for a plot. I’DLIKETHEOPTION is a very interesting runner here for trainer Jonjo O’Neill. He won handicaps over fences at Worcester and Newton Abbot during 2018 but hasn’t set the world alight since. His last success came off a mark of 125 so he is beginning to look extremely well treated here off 112. If he is back to his best, he should win this.
