Mickey Bowen sends two runners on a 910-mile round trip to Perth on Monday

2.40 Perth

King Roly was lightly raced over hurdles but did manage to win one of his six starts in that sphere. He came out on top in a 2m7f maiden hurdle at Worcester in October. The six-year-old has made an excellent start to his chasing career and has two wins from three starts so far.

He needed every yard of the 2m4f trip when winning narrowly over course and distance last time out. A 2lb rise seems fair enough with that in mind and there could be loads more to come. If he fails to win here the trip could be to blame but he’s capable of getting away with it.

3.40 Perth

Easy Bucks runs here off the back of a lengthy 415-day absence and may well need the run with that in mind. This experienced veteran is relatively consistent over fences, winning six times and finishing second or third a further eight times in 23 starts over the larger obstacles.

He just did enough to win over 3m2f at Newton Abbot and won cosily over course and distance after that. The handicapper has generously dropped Bowen’s gelding back down to the same mark now and that form gives him every chance.
