Newmarket trainer Michael Keady has never had a runner at Musselburgh before but that is set to change on Tuesday. He’s sending four runners on the 716-mile round trip to the Scottish track and connections will be looking for compensation. It’s a long and expensive journey so coming home empty-handed would be a disappointment. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing and our Nap of the day has been in particularly good form.
Excelerate has had two starts so far and was well beaten back in ninth on debut. The son of Acclamation was last of six at Nottingham last time out but plenty went wrong. He was too keen early on and stumbled not long after the start, which means that run can be forgiven. Probably one for handicaps further down the line, he’s entitled to step forward again and perhaps the new trip will help.
Night Horn is yet to win in 10 starts but he wasn’t beaten far when second off a 10lb higher mark at Sandown last season. A reproduction of that form would surely give him every chance but it’s important to note that most of his runs have been underwhelming.
Last Outlaw has won twice over 5f in the past so returning to the minimum trip is a positive. It was a decent display when finishing third over further at Lingfield in May and he looks very well treated now down to a mark of 68. A return to winning ways could very well be on the cards here.
Currumbin made a winning start to his hurdling career in a Worcester novice last month and he won over a similar trip off a 1lb lower mark at Chelmsford in February. There are plenty of reasons to be confident of a big run and he’s more than capable of making his presence felt.
