8.10 Wolverhampton

Guildford has had just three starts to date and the three-year-old makes his handicap debut in Wolverhampton’s penultimate race. Jamie Osborne’s three-year-old hasn’t shown a great deal thus far but it’s far too early to give up on him just yet.

He has raced far too keenly over further so the drop back in trip here should be a big help, at least until he learns to settle. This horse is far from the finished article which means he should become more professional as he gains experience and the best is yet to come.

Our tip in this race is Jack Channon’s Carmarthen who appears to provide some serious competition, having gone very close last time out. Lightly raced and progressive, it’s surely only a matter of time before he gets off the mark and we’re expecting a big run.

Guildford is completely unexposed and the switch to handicaps could facilitate significant improvement. An opening mark of 52 is certainly very low and it’ll be a surprise if he can’t progress beyond that.
