Market Mover: Bumper runner at Chepstow is one of the biggest steamers today

Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 4.30pm at Chepstow Racecourse today. 4.30 Chepstow

The closing 2m bumper at Chepstow is going to be a real test of stamina as with no flights and proper heavy ground, it will take a fit staying type to see it out. Interestingly, Anthony Charlton’s Oi Oi Oi has been well supported in the betting for the race. Charlton is a new enough trainer to the scene and he has done well of late. This horse was at big as 16/1 last night and is now hammered all the way into 6/1 top price, so someone out there fancies the chances of the horse.

Oi Oi Oi is by Sadler’s Rock who is an OK sire and hasn’t really set the world alight, and on the dam side there isn’t a whole lot to like too so it’s strange to see how the money could have come from a pedigree standpoint. This must mean that the horse has been showing a lot at home, and the talented jockey Bradley Harris takes off a valuable 3lb in the saddle. The young rider has ridden three winners from his last nine runners.

Charlton has also trained six winners on the national hunt scene this season to date and certainly knows what he’s doing! Best of luck if you follow the money.
