Chinese Spirit is the horse in question and he’s a vastly experienced 10-year-old with 105 career starts to his name. He’s never been further south than Thirsk and is a two-time course winner here at Carlisle. The gelding’s most recent success came at Musselburgh in August 2023 off a mark of 51, which makes his current rating of 46 eye-catching
A non-runner has contributed to the price collapse here but he was already popular in the market before that happened and the support continues to come. It could be worth keeping an eye on this one and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Water Of Leith put in some decent efforts on the all-weather in the spring and was beaten less than a length off a 1lb higher mark in March. The stiff 6f here should suit Jim Goldie’s gelding, judging by his course and distance success back in 2022, and he should be in the mix.
