Mad Merrigan isn’t mad! The Real Whacker is the horse to beat at Cheltenham 🎯

There has been great debate going on all over social media in recent weeks about the chances of The Real Whacker at the Cheltenham Festival in a few week’s time. Former jockey Paddy “Mad” Merrigan who runs a few social media channels came out to defend his beloved horse last week and he seems to be absolutely certain that The Real Whacker will win the Brown Advisory. Before we move on, you can find today’s free horse racing tips on the website.

Whacker can whack them!

Trainer Patrick Neville is reportedly going to head straight to the Cheltenham Festival with his exciting novice stable star The Real Whacker. This up and coming chaser was placed in a Grade 2 as a novice hurdler last season, but he was always going to make a better chaser. The seven-year-old won on chasing debut at Cheltenham in November before producing a sublime round of jumping to land the Dipper Novices’ Chase on his return to Prestbury Park on New Year’s Day.

The Real Whacker has been given a highly ambitious entry in the Cheltenham Gold Cup so that just shows how highly rated this lad is at home. I will be surprised if he doesn’t stick with the novice campaign this season though, and the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase will be the likely target. Currently best priced 6-1, that could turn out to be an insult of a price come March because if Willie Mullins trained a horse with the same profile, he would be 6-4 and that is a fact.

Paddy Merrigan is on The Real Whacker at huge prices all season and the man is a shrewd judge of a jumper. He is brimming with confidence that Neville’s stable star can get the job done, and I certainly believe he can too.
