‘Low is the place to be’ – three horses with the ideal draw to follow at Pontefract

From a betting point of view at Pontefract Racecourse, there are a couple of things that you need to watch out for when looking for an angle. The first thing is the draw, which can be so vital around this venue. Being drawn on the inside is generally a major positive especially over sprint trips. Another thing is the pace angle – it is a course that typically suits a front-runner. Below are three horses drawn low that should have huge chances on Sunday.

1.45 Pontefract

Poppy Carew was terribly disappointing when last of the 11 runners at Newmarket in June, but she is better than that. The Profitable filly ran a very good race on debut at York and with the ideal draw in stall three to come out of here, she could put her rivals to the sword early.

3.30 Pontefract

This is far from an unoriginal selection but Origintrail really does have a big chance in this competitive little handicap. She is already a proven winner at sharp tracks, in particular Chester so clearly likes a sharp left handed course. A lover of fast ground, she didn’t get the run of things when last seen at Newmarket but this is a golden opportunity to get back on track.

5.15 Pontefract

Likely to be a big enough price, Chester Le Streak is an interesting candidate for the finale. He ran three mediocre races in a row but definitely improved when last seen, beaten only a couple of lengths when fourth at Carlisle on handicap debut. Down another 1lb for that with a good inside draw, he has to be a player.
