Saturday promises to be another brilliant day of action at Goodwood Racecourse but make sure you check out Adrian Wall’s free horse racing tips for every race at Galway too on the website if you fancy a bit of the Irish action. The big race of the day is the Stewards’ Cup and Adrian thinks he might have found the winner of the race so let’s take a look at what he fancies below.
I have gone over every runner in the field and everything points at one horse for me and that is the David O’Meara trained runner, Summerghand, who looks far too juicy a price to pass up on. I think high could be the place to be if the ground continues to be on the soft side and this boy has dropped down to a very attractive mark again and is a big danger to all.
Summerghand won this race in 2020 from a mark of 108 and he is now running off just 100, a full 8lb below that mark. He did disappoint in the race last year off this year’s mark, but he encountered trouble in the wrong half of the field and that run can easily be forgiven.
He ran his best race of the year after eight runs when an eyecatching fourth at York, staying on at the death in the manner of a horse who could be about to hit top form at the right time. His trainer knows the time of day in these big handicaps and I think Summerghand can repeat his 2020 heroics in our feature race.
