There’s some competitive racing on offer this weekend and ITV will be showing 10 races live from Ascot, Newmarket and Redcar. This means we’re back with our usual feast of potentially overpriced selections and this time Liam Bramall has picked out two 50/1 shots. Circios (16/1, Betfred) is one of the least exposed runners in the field, having had just three starts thus far. Ralph Beckett’s runner was an impressive winner at Redcar when last seen and she went on to score by just shy of three lengths. Further improvement seems likely and this isn’t the deepest of Listed contests.
Elegant Erin (50/1, bet365) beat two previous Group winners when winning a conditions event at Beverley last time out and that was a cracking run. Clearly she’s a bit of a Beverley specialist but 50/1 is a big price when considering her latest effort. It was easily a career best performance last time and maintaining the faith may well produce a reward.
Court Alert (50/1, bet365) remains a maiden after three starts but he put in an excellent performance to finish second in a sales race on the July course last time. Eve Johnson Houghton’s colt stayed on well that day and seems likely to be suited by the step up to 7f on that evidence.
Alfa Kellenic (22/1, bet365) was really progressive for Craig Lidster last term and managed to win the Ayr Silver Cup. The daughter of Havana Grey then wasn’t disgraced in Listed company when finishing fifth at Newmarket last autumn. She looked badly in need of the run at Ayr last time out and is entitled to improve significantly.
