Liam believes this horse can beat Ombudsman in the Eclipse on Saturday

The highlight of Sandown’s Flat season is undoubtedly the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse and it’s set to take place on Saturday. Impressive Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Ombudsman heads the market at the moment but Liam Bramall has picked one out to take him on with. Unexposed over the trip, the horse in question only tried it for the first time when winning last time out and there could be more to come. 3.35 Sandown (Saturday)

Camille Pissarro (11/2, Boylesports) is an exceptionally talented three-year-old and he takes on the older horses in this multi-generational cracker.

He was a precocious yet progressive juvenile last term, winning the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc Weekend. Field Of Gold could only manage fourth that day and he has since gone on to become a superstar miler.

Aidan O’Brien’s colt began the season with a narrow defeat in a 7f Listed contest at the Curragh. The yard was out of form at the time so it’s easy to forgive him for that.

The son of Wootton Bassett then finished third behind Stablemate Henri Matisse in the French Guineas and Christophe Soumillon suggested a step up in trip for the Prix du Jockey Club.

A gap opened up just in time for Ryan Moore and he came through to score by half-a-length. There should be loads more to come over this trip and Aidan O’Brien is excellent at getting his three-year-olds to improve throughout the season.

More will be needed if he’s to come out on top against this opposition but he’s capable of finding it. Potential pacemaker Expanded will ensure a good gallop and another late run might put Camille Pissarro bang in the mix.
