JP McManus’ best bet of the week runs at Punchestown on Friday 🏇

Leading owner JP McManus has already had a fabulous week at the Punchestown Festival and it looks set to get even better. Ballybawn Belter, who won at the Dublin Racing Festival, bounced back to make it two big handicap wins for the season at the venue on Wednesday. The day was capped off with another fabulous story as Cheltenham Bumper winner A Dream To Share won the Punchestown equivalent and is now leading the market for next year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

What is the McManus bet of the week?

The Grade 2 mares’ chase at 4.50 on Friday promises to be a cracker as Impervious, Allegorie De Vassy and Instit lock horns. McManus owns the favourite Impervious, who made it four wins on the bounce when staying on strongly to beat Allegorie De Vassy at the Cheltenham Festival last month.

Now, there’s a strong case to be made that Allegorie De Vassy is much better right handed, and if she does produce her best jumping this way around then she could be a tough mare to crack. However, she was well seen off by Instit at Fairyhouse not too long ago and needs to bounce back from that poor effort. Nonetheless, Paul Townend keeps the faith with her which bodes well.

Impervious has won right handed four times in her career so she certainly won’t have any issues with the track as she wona Grade 3 here in January. A Dream To Share was a big winner for McManus but we suspect that he has been waiting for this mare all week and we think that this is possibly his best bet of the week.
