John & Thady Gosden to have their first joint Brighton runner on Tuesday 🏇

John Gosden rarely sent runners over to Brighton when he trained by himself. Operating under a joint license with his son Thady since April 2021, they are yet to have a runner at the Sussex track. That could be about to change on Tuesday however as the pair are set to send one runner there. They will be hoping for a successful visit to the picturesque seaside track. 2.40 Brighton

Rebecca West has finished ninth on both of her starts to date. The first of those came at Southwell in December and she was slowly away and never looked like being on terms. She was well behind her stablemate, who won that race, and clearly needed the experience. There was no improvement on turf and seasonal debut at Yarmouth earlier this month.

Her dam won over a mile and she tries that trip for the first time here. If the new trip suits, that could certainly facilitate some improvement. It’s also likely that she’ll come on for the run, as she’d been off the track for 133 days between starts. She’ll need to show some more positive signs soon or you would imagine that the Gosdens will move her on.

Whilst it’s possible that she could be one for low grade handicaps further down the line, it seems likely that we’ll see some progression from her here. You should always avoid giving up on unexposed and inexperienced young horses as sometimes the penny takes a while to drop. The Gosdens have one of the best yard’s in the world for a reason and they’re certainly capable of getting a performance out of her.
