We have an action-packed weekend of horse racing in-store, with Newbury hosting a pattern card and eight other meetings to sink our teeth into. We’ve drilled down into the statistics for this weekend, looking at the riders who seemingly cannot be stopped in recent days. You can find all the details below, and if you’re looking for our ITV Racing Tips, these can also be found on-site now!
Riding two winners at Leopardstown on Thursday, Colin Keane arrives into the weekend in brilliant form and has an attractive book of rides for Saturday. Given the strength of Ger Lyon’s juveniles, perhaps his best chance is Reducta in the opening maiden at Cork. She wasn’t disgraced on debut when sent off favourite and stepping up to this distance should see her in a much better light.
Winning on four of his last eleven mounts, Jason Watson is simply red hot and has an extremely strong book of rides at Newbury on Saturday. Riding three favourites, it could be a breakout day for the youngster, with Ripp Orf looking a fantastic proposition in the 3pm. Running well in much tougher races than this in recent starts, this drop in grade should see him return to winning ways.
Riding four winners in recent days, Ben Curtis has been in fantastic form and holds some good chances at Doncaster on Saturday. Double Martini was a maiden winner for the Twomey yard in Ireland back in May and has since joined Roger Fell. He’s a very interesting contender despite conceding weight and should be running a big race.
The big race on Saturday is the Hungerford Stakes from Newbury, where Sir Dancealot bids to defend his crown. He won the Lennox Stakes twelve months ago before moving on to take the Hungerford and has followed the same route a year on. Can he repeat the feat? Our ITV Racing tips go in-depth with all our thoughts for the races on TV this weekend, including who we think is going to land each contest!
