Jessica Harrington sends 10-1 runner to Newmarket and Oisin Murphy is booked 🏇

Roaring Lion and Oisin Murphy after winning the Juddmonte International at York 2018

There has been no Irish-trained winner of the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes in this century but Jessica Harrington bids to buck the trend with her runner at Newmarket Racecourse on Wednesday. Oisin Murphy has been booked for the ride which only increases the interest and the filly is a juicy price. Make sure to check out our free horse racing tips on the website.

The John & Thady Gosden runner Coppice is likely to be all the rage for this race and rightly so given her pedigree and debut win with Frankie Dettori booked for the ride. Nonetheless, Harrington’s Small Oasis deserves to be respected and must be considered as an each-way bet at the prices with arguably the best rider on the planet booked for the job.

This filly bolted up in a Curragh maiden in September and two subsequent winners have come out of the race. Trained by the Grassick yard at the time, she then went on to Newmarket and finished a close-up third in the Oh So Sharp in October behind Midnight Mile who ran well in fourth after that in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Small Oasis was bitterly disappointing when sent off favourite for a Listed race at Newbury when last seen in October. Outpaced and always in rear, she never went a yard and she seemed to hate the heavy ground on the day too. Back on a sounder surface and fresh after a break, we might see a different filly now and the fact they have booked Murphy speaks volumes about her potential chance in the race.
