Jack Channon sends one runner on the 560-mile round trip to Newcastle 🚛

Jack Channon is based in West Ilsley in Berkshire and it’s a very long journey up to Newcastle. This means it could be significant that he’s set to send just one runner up there on Thursday. It’s a 560-mile round trip and connections will surely be hoping for some compensation. Channon has only had two runners at the track so far this season and is seeking a first winner. 4.00 Newcastle

Staincliff put in a really solid effort on debut and was only beaten by a length back in second. That effort came over 5f and she kept on eye-catchingly well. It’s also worth noting that she finished well clear of the third that day. The step up to 6f should suit on that evidence and she’s entitled to improve plenty for the experience.

This could prove to be a useful maiden as there are several interesting candidates in opposition. William Haggas’ Lou Lou’s Gift should improve from her debut and appears to be the most dangerous of the previously raced fillies. The Crisfords and the Gosdens run debutants that should be capable of making an impact. Karl Burke’s filly could be one to keep an eye on, as he already has 60 two-year-old winners this year.

Channon’s filly does have the advantage of having a previous run under her belt and that could prove vital. Staincliff wouldn’t need to improve a great deal in order to go close once again and it would be no surprise if she was to shed her maiden tag at the second time of asking here.
